Finalists announced

Toy Industries of Europe (TIE) is proud to announce the finalists for the 5th edition of the Play for Change Awards. This year, ten outstanding entries across three categories—Diversity & Inclusion, Sustainability, and Life Skills—have been shortlisted for the prestigious awards.

The Play for Change Awards celebrate innovation in the toy industry, recognising companies that make significant efforts to promote positive social change. The 2024 edition has seen a remarkable range of entries from companies dedicated to making a meaningful impact on children’s lives through play.

The finalists are:

SUSTAINABILITY

  • Smoby Life – XL Slide | Smoby Toys

  • Build the Change 2023 – Environmental Sustainability through Play | The LEGO Group
  • Fisher-Price® Planet Friends | Mattel

Nominees in each category were chosen by a jury of independent specialists chaired by industry leader John Baulch. Each of the ten entries will receive an award in their respective category, but the distinction of Gold, Silver, or Bronze will only be revealed at the ceremony on 5 November in Brussels.

TIE Director General Catherine Van Reeth said, “A big thank you to all participants for the many high-quality entries. Each year, it becomes increasingly difficult to make a decision. For the second year in a row, we are awarding ten entries instead of our usual nine. These finalists reflect the industry’s ongoing dedication to creating a better world for children through diversity, sustainability, and the development of essential skills. We look forward to celebrating their achievements on 5 November.”
